Head of Controlling & Finance Operations

In this new role you will be responsible for the accounting, controlling and finance operations of Adevinta Benelux. Currently the accountants/controllers and the finance operations are part of a centrally managed team based in Amsterdam. Both Central activities will be transferred to this new role in the Benelux team and a new position leading both Controlling/ Accounting and Finance Operations for Benelux is therefore required.

Initially you will have responsibility for Controlling and  the 2 current controllers will report into you. Subsequently you will further grow your team in order to start becoming responsible for the processes around Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash and Record to Report within Benelux. You will also start having the treasury function within your scope. There will be a separate tax function who will become your peer. The role includes interacting with our BPO partner based in India and Romania,  supporting R2R and P2P processes. This will require cultural agility and the ability to develop strong relationships with remote teams. You will report directly to the CFO Adevinta Benelux.

Leadership in Adevinta means actively supporting your team to become successful. This means coaching, coordinating, and participating in the daily operations to set the example and bring knowledge to the team. You therefore also need to have a good understanding of finance systems, processes, reporting, and accounting. 

What you’ll do:

• Reporting to the CFO Adevinta Benelux, you will lead Controlling, Accounting and Financial Operations for the entity.
• Oversee the delivery of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial Group / IFRS closings, supported by your team and initially supported by Central functions 
  
  • SAP S4 HANA and OneStream reporting 
  • Revenue controlling and accounting 
  • Trial Balance review and flux analysis
  • Coordinate Allocations and cross-charges
  • Project accounting
  • Payroll coordination and expense report coordination
• Review balance sheet risks & opportunities with the CFO on a regular cadence
• Partner with the business units to ensure proper financial controls are implemented.
• Cash flow forecasting, working closely together with the FP&A  team
• Onboarding, setting up & running the P2P, RtR and OTC processes, initially through the current central S4 HANA system, possibly to be moved to a local ERP system
• Onboard and run the Treasury function
• Support the Tax manager with inputs relating to Dutch tax returns
• Own financial statements preparation and the coordination of local statutory audits
• Supervise the monitoring and reviewing of the fixed assets and capitalization processes
• Liaise and report to local authorities on local required reporting and submissions.
• Implement & update financial controls and ensure compliance with internal control procedures.

Who you are:

• You own a bachelor's or master’s degree in the areas of Controlling or Finance & Accounting.
• You have more than 10 years of experience in accounting or controlling roles in mid-large sized companies, with at least 5 years of experience having fully led Controlling for your organizational entity.
• You have gained NL GAAP and IFRS knowledge and have supported statutory audits.
• You have set up and/or updated end-to-end finance processes within an ERP landscape.
• You are highly experienced in leading teams and managing diverse stakeholders.
• You have worked with accounting software (SAP S4 HANA or similar) and have solid Excel skills.
• You are fluent in English and Dutch.
• You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to switch between hands-on, tactical and strategic topics.
• You have excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to both financial and non-financial stakeholders on all hierarchical levels.
