Job Description & Summary
We are looking for you! The tax specialist with an international perspective who is eager to tackle complex VAT issues in a sector consisting mainly of publicly traded multinationals. We refer to these as Public Interest Entities (PIE).
Our PIE clients operate in the international trade of goods and services, which is a fascinating playing field. The types of clients are diverse, including international clothing and retail brands, electronics manufacturers, online platforms, well-known tech companies, private equity firms, commodity traders, and energy suppliers. We advise our clients so they know which VAT regulations to comply with in all the countries they operate in. Legislation is constantly evolving, especially considering the role of e-commerce, developments like Brexit, and climate ambitions. As a team, we are a business partner for the client, our role is to make complex regulations understandable and to consider the impact on ERP systems in our advice. We support the client with data analysis and communicate with the Tax Authorities and, together with our foreign colleagues, with the local tax authorities in the countries where the client is active. We also represent our clients in court if legal proceedings are initiated.
What will you be doing?
As a VAT specialist in the PIE team, you will solve complex VAT issues for our international clients. As an associate, you will have a lot of freedom and responsibility from day one. You will receive intensive guidance and have many training opportunities. This builds confidence and ensures a steep learning curve. No day is the same, keeping the work interesting and varied.
You will always be in conversation with your clients about the issues they face and work with colleagues in other tax areas such as transfer pricing and corporate tax.
You will actively think about optimizing the (international) VAT position and/or (cross-border) supply chain of clients. You will translate the laws and regulations into practical application by the client and also consider the technical aspects of the system.
You will help draft objections and appeals and be involved in discussions with the Tax Authorities.
Additionally, you will use technology to make your client's work and your own easier and more efficient.
Due to the international nature of our clients, you will also be in frequent contact with colleagues working at PwC offices abroad.
Does this describe you?
You are a creative thinker and dare to approach complex issues from a different perspective. Your social skills allow you to build sustainable relationships with clients, colleagues, and the Tax Authorities. Additionally:
You are analytical, have a natural curiosity, and enjoy tackling things. You dive into complex issues and ask the right questions to get to the core.
You identify with PwC's values: act with integrity, make a difference, care, reimagine the possible, and work together.
You are committed and want to add value to our clients.
You have a master's degree in tax law or tax economics. If you are not a die-hard tax specialist but recognize yourself in the profile and would like to work with us, please contact us. We are happy to explore the possibilities!
Your English verbal and written skills are at a good level.
What are we offering?
At PwC, you have the opportunity to be yourself, get the best out of yourself in a high-performance organization, and grow within our global network. As part of our team, we offer:
A competitive salary, attractive pension scheme, and the opportunity to grow quickly;
Customised training for professional growth and leadership development;
